This oral history interview with Charles H. Witten on May 27, 1987 continues discussion of the USC International Student Program, the role of chaplains at USC, the development of the student union (The Russell House), the development of Student Health Services, some precautionary measures taken, as well as some problems, during the integration of USC, The Kent State Massacre, The Orangeburg Massacre, student unrest and activism during the 1970s and the Vietnam War period; including the take-overs of The Russell House and Osborne Administration Building, The South Carolina National Guard, Students for a Democratic Society, USC president Thomas Jones, the end of the university's role of ""in loco parentis"", coed dorms and apartments on campus, drug and alcohol use on campus, and his concerns about education in America.
