Caption on back: "At 72, Mr. Joseph N. Stevens is still cutting hair at Fort Benning and going strong. He has been at Benning for the past 24 years and has been cutting the hair of servicemen since 1895 when he joined the Navy. He served in the Navy until 1905 and is a veteran of the Spanish-American War. At Benning he cut the hair of lieutenants who years later came back as generals and asked for "Steve" to cut their hair again. At one time General of the Armies, John J. Pershing was a steady customer. He was born in Worchester, Massachusetts. 5/10/46.
