Description

Photograph caption reads: "Timmie Miller, 5, is all eyes as he sits with his adoptive mother, Brenda Nemorin, at a City Hall news conference. Mayor Tom Bradley proclaimed Black Adoption Week yesterday and joined with religious and community leaders to praise the work of 'Room For One More,' a community group that helps with the adoption of black children, 'There couldn't be a better time or a better opportunity' to adopt a black child, Bradley said. There are more than 700 black children currently available for adoption in the county, and more than half the children referred to the county for adoption are black. 'There is an especially great need for adoption of young black boys and toddlers,' said Helen Ramirez of county Children's Services." Photograph dated: Feb. 18, 1987.
