Description
Records collected by the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission on Johnny (Jack) Frazier, an African American student from Greenville, Mississippi, who was a leader in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Youth Council. Frazier repeatedly applied to attend the University of Southern Mississippi before he was told in 1964 that the Sovereignty Commission would provide the press and the Justice Department that he was homosexual if he applied again.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
