Photograph of Walter White, a prominent civil rights activist in Atlanta, Georgia during the first half of the twentieth century. In this head and shoulders portrait, he wears a suit and tie and faces forward.White became the executive secretary of the NAACP in 1931 and served in that position until his death in 1955. In 1948 White published a memoir, A Man Called White, which details his family's experience of the 1906 Atlanta race riot.
