He describes his affinity for creating characters that no other author can create. Andrews notes that all authors can create characters, but only he can create his characters. He asserts that it is a very difficult feat to achieve. This video is from a series entitled Writers in Focus.Andrews was a widely acclaimed novelist and chronicler of the African American experience in north central Georgia. His first novel, Appalachee Red, won the James Baldwin Prize for fiction in 1979.
