Description

In the letter Jones refers to recent violence in Birmingham and asks Wallace to restore peace throughout Alabama. He also points out that the Democratic party in the state is not operating according to the principles on which it is based: "Democracy and the Democratic Party, you yourself a member, proclaim as a preachment individual worth and the protection of the minority; nonetheless, the Democratic power politics in Alabama is incongruent with its preachment. It has become quite palpable that Alabama is failing miserably to 'insure domestic tranquility.'"
