Holograph, signed with initialsMaria Weston Chapman discusses Mary Weston's illness. She tells of Wendell Phillips's handling of Anne Warren Weston's affairs. She gives a long account of a tax controversy between Weymouth and Boston. Chapman distributed 25 tracts. She talks about the "Mobocrats" and [James] Redpath. She objects to yielding a "hair's-breadth" to the opposition. Discusses a conversation with Ann Terry Phillips about the advisability of giving advice to one's friends. Chapman talks about the usefulness of some of the recent anti-slavery meetings. She mentions the continuation of the John Brown meeting and refers again to Redpath
