You git a line and i'll git a pole, honey, You git a line and i'll git a pole, babe, You git a line and i'll git a pole And we'll go down to dat crawdad hole, Honey, oh babe, oh mine. 1. Stuck my finger in a crawdad hole Crawdad said, doggone yo' soul. What you gonna do when the lake goes dry/ Sit on de bank and watch de crawdads die. Yonder comes a man wid a sack on his back, A-totin' dem crawdads down dat track. Man fell down an' broke dat sack, Looka dem crawdads backin' back. Lots mo' verses to dis song, Dat's what makes it so doggone long. 1. Every stanza follows this pattern of repetition and refrain.
