Description

Video of an interview in which president and former Georgia governor Jimmy Carter speaks about being one of the first white politicians to campaign at black churches in the state and among black leadership in Atlanta during his 1970 gubernatorial election. He asserts that he was not embarrassed to do so, but he concedes that it was rare for a white politician to enter a church with a mainly African American congregation.
