Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.George Gay writes to William Lloyd Garrison after reading the prospectus for the eighth volume of the Liberator. He tells Garrison to "pursue that upright, fearless, and impartial course, which you have persued since I became your patron, and you have nothing to fear." Gay asks Garrison for advice and more information about non-resistance saying he has "never met an advocate of peace in my life," but he has "long been convinced that resistance to wrong is contrary to the precepts and practice of our great Master." He also tells Garrison that he receives his copy of the Liberator irregularly, "sometimes it comes Saturdays, sometimes Tuesdays, and the No. before the last I have not received yet," asking him to cause his paper to be received every Saturday.
