Oral histories of women from Newtown, an African-American neighborhood in Gainesville, Georgia, whose Florist Club members became vocal leaders for civil rights and community improvement.Abstract: Christine Hudson describes growing up in Hall county and her experiences as a black woman living in the south. From there she covers various topics dealing with race. She remembers the Civil Rights movement, Jim Crow, and how she discussed race with her children when they were young. Also covered are her thoughts on the environmental issues existent in Newtown.Series: Newtown
