Description
Gov. LeRoy Collins reflects on the civil rights movement in an interview with a WFSU-TV reporter. He states that during his tenure as governor he felt that change had to come peacefully in order to be effective. He comments that his experiences with civil rights leaders and as Commissioner of the Community Relations Service convinced him that integration would have a positive impact on society. The segment ends with the former Governor commenting that his religious beliefs made him sympathetic with the civil rights movement and additional commentary on his friendship with Dr. Martin Luther King.
