Caption on back: "The SS George Washington Carver, second liberty ship to be named for an outstanding Negro American, was launched at the Richmond (Cal.) Shipyard No. 1 of the Kaiser Company on May 7, 1943; Montrose Carrol, a chipper who worked on the 10,500-ton liberty ship, was the lucky man who received a kiss from Lena Horne, sponsor, in behalf of all of the Richmond shipyard workers.
