Flyer for National Day of Mourning for the Children of Birmingham" held in New York City on September 22, 1963. The event followed the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 15. Sponsored by Congress of Racial Equality, Manhattan Branch of the NAACP, Negro American Labor Council, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, the gathering was planned to include comments by James Baldwin, Rev. Thomas Kilgore Jr., Bayard Rustin, and Norman Thomas.
