Description

St. Lawrence University: Street Art Graphics; Anti-war message from Night Raiders featuring a quote from George McGovern and an unknown soldier. "Our Vietnam policy–makers have distorted history to justify our intervention in a civil conflict.--Sen. George McGovern." "I swear to God this place is worse than hell. Why must I kill women and kids? Who knows who’s right? They think they are and we think we are. Both sides are losing men. I wish to God this War was over. From a U.S. Soldier in Vietnam, A.P. Dispatch, Sept. 1965". Night Raiders is a group of U.S. political stickers from the '60s and ‘70s protesting the Vietnam War and U.S. imperialism, and calling for racial equality among blacks and whites. "Night Raiders" here may refer to military "night riders" and civilian vigilante "Knight Riders" of the Ku Klux Klan, as well as "freedom riders" during the U.S. civil rights era.
