Dedicating Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, LaFayette, Louisiana Bishop Jeanmard (with miter and staff), Bishop Desmond (left of Jeanmard), Rev. Patzelt, S.V.D. (with cape), and pastoral associates (behind principals): Rev. Smith, S.V.D. (left of Desmond), Rev. Wade, S.V.D. (left of Jeanmard), Rev. Roussève, S.V.D. (left of Patzelt), Rev. Bourges, S.V.D. (right of Patzelt). The parish was established the year before by Father Patzelt, S.V.D., and the four newly ordained assistants who had graduated from St. Augustine Seminary, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.Verso caption: Dedication of NEW Colored Church (Immaculate Heart of Mary) Lafayette, La.; Bishop Jeanmard officiating prelate; Bishop Desmond of Alexandria, to his right.
