Description

This is a case where two separate images are together on the same negative. Perhaps the photographer was short on film or just did not bother to cut the film in two. The image on the left shows five African American men with a Ford truck advertising the Olin-Wilmeth Company Sales, Service, and Parts. It is likely that the men are employees of that dealership. In 1923 when this image was taken the company was an authorized Ford dealer located at 720-722 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis. The four-story building had a sales room and a service station. On the right is a completely different event, a family reunion for the Huff family taken in August 1923. It shows the grandparents, their children, and grandchildren on the front porch of what was probably the family home somewhere in the Indianapolis area. The original nitrate negative was copied with funds provided by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 1990. This digital image was created from that copy. The copy prints and negatives are stored in Microfiche Number order. Interpositives are stored in PAN number order. Bicentennial Train Image.
