Second Baptist Church

@ Los Angeles Public Library

Paul R. Williams was the most influential African-American architect in Los Angeles history in a career that spanned six decades and included houses for millionaires, churches, housing projects, and landmark restaurants. Along with the 28th Street YMCA, the church was among one of the first nonresidential projects in the Black community; it was built in 1924.Exterior view of Second Baptist Church, located at 2412 Griffith Avenue, the second African-American church in Los Angeles.
