The material in this folder details the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party's Congressional Challenge, the attempt to unseat the four Mississippi congressmen elected in 1964 in an election from which African Americans were largely barred from participating. Details of the planning of the challenge, travel plans for the MFDP delegation to Washington, D.C., the efforts of the delegation in D.C., and documents, reports, and press releases providing background information on the challenge, the MFDP candidates who attempted to run in the 1964 election as Democrats, and the four successful candidates from the "regular" Mississippi Democratic Party are included.
