Description

A crowd gathers at City Hall in a demonstration organized by the local NAACP chapter. The event included prayers, speeches and the singing of the civil rights anthem "We Shall Overcome" in response to the murder of Rev. James Reeb in Alabama. President of the Colorado Springs NAACP, Suzanne T. Rodgers declared "We believe something should be done about such a deplorable situation (in the south) and it should be done now." Signs among the crowd read "Freedom Now," "We Stand with Selma's Oppressed," and "One Nation Under God?"
