Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.On verso, the letter is addressed to "Garrison & Knapp 46 Washington Street Boston," and it is postmarked with a red, octagonal stamp reading, "Phila 5 Feb."In this letter to William Lloyd Garrison and Isaac Knapp, Arnold Buffum writes that he expects "a Draft payable at sight or a Check for the within Ballance [sic] in 4 days from this Date." Buffum comments that changes to his account not being posted caused "the inaccuracy of my former statements," and he provides an itemized list of his accounts for the Liberator from April 1834 through February 4, 1836. He reminds them that he lent Garrison money in the past and says "you owe it to me and I am exceedingly distressed for want of it, you will therefore remit it to me by first Mail." Buffum adds, "There has not been a single day since my Agency commenced but there has been a ballance [sic] due to me." He then points out corrections he has made to his statement since he last sent it a few days earlier.
