Description

Holograph, signedWilliam Lloyd Garrison is overwhelmed by London but impressed by the order of street life. He visited Gravesend with George Thompson. Thompson's eldest daughters are quite tall and interesting. Elizabeth Pease (Nichols) has retired to the country. The death of her father Joseph Pease has "caused a great prostration of her physical system." Garrison is shocked by the prevalence of prostitutes in London; he describes one prostitute who appreached him. He express strong disapproval of prostitutes and the state of societyMerrill, Walter M.
