This video is part of a series of videos that document Dr. James Earl Danieley lecturing during the class he teaches each Winter term at Elon University called Elon: Past, Present, Future. Included in all the videos in the collection, he discusses a number of topics that relate to the history of Elon University. Specifically, in this video he discusses major topics that include: the admission of the first African-American student to Elon College; biographical and educational information about Durward Stokes; Dr. Danieley’s childhood, life on a farm in North Carolina, family, and education; tuition and fees at Elon during the 1940s; differences in pay for high school teachers and college/university faculty members in North Carolina; and chemistry and science classes at Elon College prior to the 1950s.
