Description

Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. In the head- spine corner the words, "To F.J.G." have been added in black ink, while below the salutation, the number "81" is written in pencil. On the second page, the writing is vertical, facing the fore edge, and continues from where the third page ends.Alfred Webb writes to Francis Jackson Garrison stating that his "loss indeed has been very great - your brother's loss." Webb describes a death he witnessed in New York Harbor and asks "Where is Mrs. Chapman?", requesting Garrison send him her address if she is in Paris. He also sends his "love & best wishes to your father" [William Lloyd Garrison] and expresses his hope for Garrison to visit him in Dublin. Before ending the letter, Webb asks for "an address where a letter is certain to be always forwarded to you".
