Dr. John Walcott Kay in a carriage. Dr. John Walcott Kay (1890-1927) was born in Weldon, NC, and received his medical degree from Shaw University in 1912. He practiced medicine in Wilmington, NC until his death in 1927. He is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Raleigh, NC. His grandson Ralph Campbell Jr. went on to become State Auditor of North Carolina from 1993-2005, and his other grandson William Campbell served two terms as Mayor of Atlanta, GA.
