Description
A letter to Lewis Tappan from Samuel Hastings praising God "for the deliverance of the poor captives of the Amistad." He writes that a public meeting will be held the following week to publicly render "thanksgiving to God" and to "tell upon the general cause of Antislavery." Hastings asks Tappan to furnish information about the future prospects of the Africans and how they conducted themselves when the Supreme Court decision was made known to them. He mentions that he wishes to know if any more money is wanted and for what purpose. Hastings also acknowledges Tappan's letter in which he enclosed a letter for Professor Charles Dexter Cleveland.
