Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.William Raymond writes to William Lloyd Garrison declaring that he "wish[es] to do everything in my power for the elevation of the colored people." He asks Garrison about teaching in "a select, or any other kind of school, among the colored people of Boston" during his break from college. He says that he "should be glad to give my services gratis" but would prefer some small compensation, stating that he can find work paying "25 doll[ars] per month, (board not included) but I had rather teach among the colored people." In the postscript, Raymond asks Garrison for "an answer immediately so that I may see about another school."
