Description

Holograph, signedWilliam Lloyd Garrison rejoices at the willingness of his sister-in-law (Sarah Thurber Benson) to visit them. He describes the furnished house they expect to inhabit. Garrison is in a state of excitement, and his scrofulous complaint grows worse. The solemnity of the Peace Convention was disturbed by the irresistible humor of William Ladd. Ladd is a "huge and strange compound of fat, good nature, and benevolence."Merrill, Walter M. Letters of William Lloyd Garrison
