Description
Southern Courier photographer Jim Peppler is standing on the right, and Courier staff members Barbara Howard Flowers and Sandra Colvin are seated in the audience on the front row. Stokely Carmichael addressed the audience during the meeting; he was arrested after shouting "Black Power!" at a passing police car. The incident was discussed in the article "For the People of Prattville" by Sandra Colvin and Franklin Howard, which appeared on page 1 of The Southern Courier for June 17-18, 1967.
