Description
Portrait of Dr. Robert S. Wilkinson, the Second President of SC State, Served From 1911-1932. Prior to Becoming President, Wilkinson Served as Professor of Physics and Head of the Department of Science For 16 Years. During His Tenure, Wilkinson Organized the State of South Carolina Teachers Summer School In 1914. SC State, Then Named South Carolina State College, Received Designation as the Pre-Medical College of South Carolina by the American Association of Medical College. Six Years After His Tenure, Wilkinson Hall, Which Housed the Financial Aid and Registrar's Office, Was Named In His Honor. He Also Wrote The Alma Mater, Which Is Still Sung by the University.
