Ferree-Clark, Nancy

Description

In his letter to the Galatians, Paul claims that our membership in the Church (which we gain through faith and baptism) constitutes us as a new humanity, which is marked by a radical oneness and unity. In the body of the church, all are made one. This should call us to root out all divisions and oppression based on gender, sexuality, race, etc. (Abstract created by Duke Divinity School staff.)Key quotation: “Paul’s word to us on our oneness in Christ seems an especially fitting call to the communion table. Were it possible to gather up all the wounds of those victims, both past and present, as well as our own, we should bring those wounds here, for this is the place of belonging, of nurture and of healing.”
