Description
Copies of newspaper articles collected by the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission on the November 1965 conviction of a white man for raping an African American woman. The articles come from newspapers around the country and highlight the fact that it was the first time a jury had convicted a white man of raping an African American.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
