Description
In this WSB-TV newsfilm clip, Atlanta Alderman Milton Farris discusses the difficulties the Board of Aldermen is having finding a location for 350 "Negro housing units" that are part of urban renewal projects in Atlanta. He notes that the racial question is behind "there [being] no place where these units are acceptable." He believes the units should be built where the people are being displaced. He objects to the burden that will be placed on people having to travel 12-15 miles to reach their places of employment, especially given the lack of adequate transportation in the Poole Creek area, one of the proposed sites for the new housing. There are two silent clips at the beginning of this segment that probably do not belong with this story. They show two unidentified men. One man in a wheelchair is being shown a cloth of some sort by a man who is standing. In the second clip, there is a clear shot of the cloth showing stars. It is unclear whether this is a flag or not.Title supplied by cataloger.
